So your neighbor, office mate, best friend, whoever just lost 10 pounds in only two weeks following the latest in high protein low carbohydrate diets. And now you're thinking you should give it a go -- have even started the search for high protein low carbohydrate recipes? True, high protein low carb diets seem to be leading many people to weight loss success. Trouble is, they seemed to do it 30 years ago, too. They were the rage in the early 70s, and look where many of us are today: growing fatter with each decade. The bottom line: Diets -- low carb diets or not -- simply don't work for the vast majority of people. If that doesn't convince you, look at some of the reasons why high protein low carbohydrate diets seem to create weight loss success stories -- but really don't."I'm not hungry when I eat high protein low carb diets." Many people say they feel more satisfied eating low carbohydrate diets. And indeed, studies show protein is the most satiating nutrient. Proteins and fat (which is usually in high protein low carbohydrate foods) cause your body to release cholecystokinin, a hormone that contributes to the feeling of fullness. Some protein in meals and even snacks may help us feel more satisfied and go longer between eating. But the key word is "some." We don't need an excess of protein, or low carb diets, to get these effects. By just eating balanced meals that contain grain/starchy foods, protein foods, vegetables and/or fruits and some fat, most people can achieve the same satiety. One other important note is that hunger control with low carbohydrate diets is often the result of ketosis (when your body burns fat for fuel.) Ketosis is very unhealthy, causing nausea, headaches, fatigue, even coma. "Results are results ? I saw successful weight loss, didn't I?" Many people do lose weight on high protein low carb diets. Instead of fat, however, they're initially losing more water than anything else -- and it quickly returns once off low carb diets. They seem to see successful weight loss, too, because low carb diets restrict many foods, resulting in eating less than usual. The big question is: Is it really successful weight loss if it doesn't stay off? For most people, if weight loss is achieved quickly and with a restrictive method such as a diet that does not allow for individual likes and dislikes, then the lost pounds will return, along with discouragement, defeat and even more pounds than before. What's more, high protein low carb diets may also increase risk for health problems such as osteoporosis, cancer, even heart disease. A healthy intake of whole grain foods, fruits and vegetables -- often on the "avoid" list in high protein low carb diets ? appears to help reduce this risk, and is the mainstay of a sensible plan to achieve weight loss success.Create your own weight loss success story.Despite what you hear about high protein low carb diets, there's little evidence that weight loss success is truly (permanently) achieved. What's more, disordered eating behaviors are usually reinforced by high protein low carb diets, adding to the struggles that low carbohydrate diets and other diets are supposed to solve. Stop dieting now and start living a healthy lifestyle that truly leaves you feeling good!.

Commercial dog food has only been around since the 1930s when cereal companies were trying to find something to do with their rejected grain their wheat and rice and corn that failed USDA inspection, usually because of mold. They discovered that the meat industry faced the same problem. Leftover meat not fit for human consumption, usually because the livestock was diseased. This gave birth to the idea of mixing the rejects together, calling it "pet food", and making big profits off of it. Smart advertising planted this term in the public's mind, but your dog was never intended to get his nutrition from a bag or can, especially filled with this stuff. It's not "dog food" -- it's an artificial diet created for the benefit of the grain and meat industries and the pet food corporations.Virtually all-artificial diets are heavily based on grains and cereals. But dogs are not cows. A dog has a short straight digestive tract meant to digest meat and protein. Grains and cereals are carbohydrates that require a longer digestive tract. Think of a cow's several stomachs and its long winding digestive tract. Even worse, many dogs are allergic to so much grain and cereal. They develop chronic digestive problems, or itchy skin characterized by foot licking or face-rubbing. You might never think to associate these skin problems with the grains and cereals in your dog's artificial diet. Finally, the quality of these grains and cereals is terrible. Virtually every pet food company uses grains and cereals that cannot pass USDA inspection.*Cooking for Your Dog* An all-natural home-cooked diet is the right food you have a dog with chronic, long-term problems. If your Golden Retriever is really a mess, forget the commercial foods completely and put him on one of the homemade diets. There are several, and one of the best is the natural diet. However, many of them rely too heavily on starches potatoes, grains and beans so be careful. You're trying to move toward a meat-based diet for your dog. All the homemade diets depend on raw meat so don't be afraid of feeding it this way. However, when your animals are in poor condition or ill, feeding raw foods in such situation is critical as they contain enzymes, bacteria. If you doubt that vegetables are 'alive', consider this if you plant a raw potato, it will grow and reproduce. If you plant a cooked one, it will rot in the ground. Raw foods are 'alive' in some way that cooked foods are not..

Negative calorie foods are said to use more calories to digest than the calorie content of the foods themselves, resulting in a negative calorie balance. It is therefore natural to consider a diet containing these foods for weight loss.A diet is a combination of a balanced selection of foods designed for medical or nutritional reasons. A good diet should include all major food groups. The weight loss diets (with or without negative calorie foods) are made to reduce body fat and weight. Some of the popular weight loss diets are: Atkin's diet, cabbage soup diet, grapefruit diet, Hollywood diet, negative calorie foods diet, Pritikin diet, the South beach diet and the zone diet. Most of the weight loss diets promote to eat a particular food group and restrict other food groups. Such diets may show temporary results. If you follow these restricted diets for a long time, you may develop some health problems at later stage as these diets do not contain all the necessary nutrients needed for your body. The secret to losing weight is to eat and drink the right kind of foods until you are satisfied. Skipping of meals is not the answer for weight loss, it can rather deteriorate your health. A healthy weight loss diet plan should include vegetables, fruits, grains, lentils and beans in your diet. Following is a sample daily diet plan that is good for keeping healthy weight and good health, irrespective of whether you follow a diet plan with negative calorie foods or not.	Skim milk and skim yogurt.	Salads or boiled vegetables or vegetable soup as starter.	Whole-wheat bread/tortila, whole grain cereal and rice.	Whole grains like kidney beans, chick peas and lentils.	Lightly cooked green vegetables.	Any dessert with minimum sugar.	Lean variety of meat (it is better to avoid).	The dinner should be light. If you had bread for lunch then have rice for dinner.Include as much negative calorie foods as possible in the above diet plan. If you are meat eater, choose from a lean variety and restrict to one serving in a day.A diet with negative calorie foods as main ingredients can include foods that are loaded with carbohydrates, proteins, vitamins, minerals and dietary fibers necessary for keeping you fit. The diet with negative calorie foods can be tailored for fast or gradual weight loss. The fast weight loss diet that can lower the weight up to two pounds per day, is not recommended for long term. The gradual weight loss diet can reduce one pound in a week and can be followed until desired weight is achieved. The diet can be made according to ones needs. The negative calorie foods will not give you much benefit if you are eating foods loaded with fats and sugars. If you eat a serving of potato fries, don't think that you can reduce the calories gained from fries by simply eating some negative calorie celery.Copyright 2004, www.NegativeCalorieFoods.com[You have permission to publish this article in your web sites, ezines or electronic publication, as long as it is used in its entirety including this resource box), all HTML hyperlinks, references (clickable) and copyright information.].

Scientific data from credible sources all over the world is beginning to support that Glyconutrients dramatically improves cell-to-cell communication, which can lead to the body's ability to defeat some of the nations most dangerous killers. "Our immune system was designed to defeat disease and illness before it starts, at the source, however, Americans diets have lead to a tremendous weakening of these systems. As a result, we seek the use of drugs to treat the symptoms rather than to address the cause." Says Fred Franke, one of the nations leading Glyco-nutrient specialists. "By adding a simple supplement of Glyco-nutrients to our diets, we can provide our bodies with the material to restore cell-to-cell communication and this can lead to the defeat of some of our societies most feared killers."Research all over the world has been supporting these claims for more than 10 years but, modern medicine isn't designed as a preventative practice in this country. The basis of this research has shown that the body needs an abundant supply of 8 monosaccharides to ensure proper health and when given these nutrients a healthy body has an amazing ability to defeat disease. This means Glyconutirents aren't designed to cure, mitigate or treat any illness but rather to provide the body with the material to support its' own optimum health. In our modern diets, most people are only getting 2 of the needed 8 carbohydrates. Mr. Franke has literally changed thousands of lives over the past several years in helping people dramatically improve the quality of their health. "Cell to cell communication is literally how we survive and this gives our body the best chance to repair and heal itself. I've helped thousands of people from all over the world who were suffering from asthma, cancer, ADHD and countless other ailments. This technology and the science behind it is absolutely changing the world and revolutionizing the health industry, as we know it".
Many people are beginning diets that encourage low carb recipes these days. But, what are low carb recipes? What things can and cannot be made into a low carb recipe? Following your diets strict guidelines is important, but using the Internet as a tool will help you. For instance, you may do a search for quick recipes and come up with many low carb options. There are many different diets to choose from that have low carb rules. But, many recipes may also be able to be changed into low carb by making simple changes. Meat recipes are probably the most oblivious choice including chicken as it is such a healthy option in most cases. But, what about other choices? Cookie recipes may be the most difficult to find, but choices for sweets will be found. What about a special occasion? Yes, you can easily find easy gourmet recipes as well. Make in advance crockpot recipes? Yes, those too will be found with a little devoted looking. The best option in finding these hard to find recipes would be too look on your low carb diet's website. You can also do a search for the exact thing or just a category using the Internet. Whatever means you choose, you will find many options to low carb recipes out there. Low carb recipes need to be healthy as well as follow the guidelines specified in your diet's plan. So, it is safe to say, that you will need to research what items you may and may not eat when following these diets by looking through the materials you have purchased or visiting the websites sponsored by those diets. Questions to asked and get answered include knowing the difference between good carbs and bad carbs. Dietitians recommend eating complex carbs because these are full of fiber, phytochemicals, vitamins, and minerals. Other carbs are ones, usually the ones to avoid are simple carbs which contain lots of sugar! There are more things to ask about your diet as well such as the different phases or just how to live a low carb life.Once you know the information you need to choose which low carb recipes you are allowed or those that you are restricted from, changing your favorite recipes into low carb gets easier. Chicken and other meat recipes will be the easiest to switch maybe with very little effort. In certain diets, you are allowed to eat more vegetables, but are restricted on which ones. So instead of having a baked potato with your dinner, you have a baked sweet potato instead. The sweet potato has less of the "bad carbs" then the sweet potato. Maybe instead of fries at your favorite restaurant, you get a salad. When it comes to making things at home, you need recipes that contain good carbs in the correct amounts for your diet.A crock pot meal may contain a meat choice and fresh veggies, but leave out the potatoes or noodles. There are many choice you will need to make when looking for low carb recipes, but overall, it will be easy to find ones that will fit your taste buds. The most important things to understand are the rules of your low carb diet or lifestyle. Knowing which carbs you can and cannot eat, is the entire battle!.

It's a well known fact that the weight loss industry is a profitable one. There are thousands of books, gyms and health spas, nutrition and exercise services available to the overweight consumer and the net is riddled with them.If the consumer is not receiving advise from a dietition or doctor, it is up to them to verify for themselves what is fact and what is fiction. For many years, the low carb establishment has maintained that you can lose weight by changing the amount and in some cases the types of carbs, protein and fats consumed. And for many years the mainstream medical establishment has scoffed at the Atkins weight loss theory of losing weight through ketosis not through maintaining a negative calorie balance and labelled it irresponsible and unhealthy. There are cries of cardiovascular and cholesterol risks not just because of the red meat, but because of the lower carbohydrate and therefore lower fiber intake recommended. Many authorities will not recommend it as a viable weight loss solution, and indeed is censored by relevant government authorities in many countries. Despite the bad press, there have been thousands of reported cases of individuals losing weight by eating more protein and fewer carbohydrates.During the last couple of years, findings of research have been filtering through that there may be some merit to the low carb diets, that have been promoted in weight loss books and websites. Atkins press releases seize the opportunity to validate what they've been saying for years. Some would say (particularly dietitions and nutritionists) that the people who joined the low-carb band wagon were naive, unkowledgeable and ready to try anything. There are those who have taken aspects of the low carb diets out of context and have done silly things like eating nothing but pork rinds and Atkins bars and wandered why they weren't losing weight. This is the danger of popular diet books where no individual professional support can be given. However, to be fair, many low carb-ers today are forward thinking, health conscious (not just weight conscious) and intelligent and logical thinkers and do receive some support as I believe there is an Atkins telephone helpline available to U.S. residents, which if you're interested is 1-800-2-ATKINS. As to whether this is purely a promotional tool or truely a helpline, I am not sure. For many low carb-ers eating a low carb diet is similar to eating the way we did years ago before we had access to soda and bagels in mass proportions. Now, I am not an advocate of low carb diets, in fact I don't recommend "cookie cutter" diets, but I do see that for many, it is providing welcome relief to stubborn weight and health problems that previously have been difficult to treat, and that independent research is starting to support the results that have been seen in thousands of low carb success testimonials. As a side note, I feel I must add, if you're new to the diet scene and assessing whether or not low carb eating is for you, I do have one word of warning, please be aware that research findings can be manipulated and that findings of research that have been funded by commercial interests such as those within the low carb community may not be as impartial as it appears. I am not saying that their research isn't impartial or accurate, but to be really sure, a truly independent study should not have links to interested commercial parties.References:Due A, Toubro S, Skov AR, Astrup A.
You may be considering a low carb diet program, but wonder if they really work, and if so, how well? Let's take the mystery out of low carb diets by giving you the 3 most important elements to their success. First, you need to bring your carboydrate cravings under control. Some diet programs argue that most of us are addicted to carbohydrates. Others take a more moderate approach and link it to the glycemic index. All of the low carb diets are consistent on this one fact though - you need to overcome short-term cravings to ensure long term weight loss success. There is definite scientific proof linking simple carbohydrates, such as sugar, to cravings you have for more food. Second, you need to focus on better carbs versus the worse carbs. What that means is simply that you must consider which carbohydrates result in more glucose spikes being created by your body. Simple carbs are quickly absorbed and result in significant glucose spikes which, can result in more fat being stored in your body. Low carb diets balance overall carbohydrate input with the quality and type of carbohydrates. Just by reducing the simple carbs in your diet such as sugar, milk, some fruit you can make a big difference in curbing your cravings for more food. Third, you must gain confidence in the delicious foods you are able to eat on low carb diets so that you stick with the change. You cannot expect to achieve long term success with your diet program if you are not educated or satisfied with the amazing alternative foods at your disposal. Low carb diets can lead to weight loss, health benefits and an entire lifestyle change - however you don't have to give up everything you enjoy in order to experience rapid weight loss. By focusing on foods that trigger chemical and biological reactions in your body resulting in cravings, you can burn fat and increase your health at the same time..

As a former NCAA Division 1 Athlete, I have parents ask me quite often what their son or daughter needs to do in order to make it to the highest level of college athletics. First, mom and dad need to know where they fit in the equation to success. Parents cannot be the primary motivator. If a kid is not self-motivated to be on the field or in the gym early and often, I would say he does not have what it takes. No matter how hard a parent pushes, kids will ultimately change only if their heart is committed. A parent must be the primary encourager, not a micro-managing know-it-all. Too many parents try to implement their own agendas in their child's lives as opposed to providing guidelines, guardrails, and "good-jobs" along the way. Second, if you are a "borderline athlete" ? not one of the top players in the nation being recruited by the top schools ? then you must focus on nutrition and training to engrain. High sugar & high fat diets are not going to help you get that extra burst of quickness that you need to beat your competition. Do not be fooled by the professional athlete on a McDonalds commercial, even professional athletes follow a strictly regimented diet. Oddly enough, you will see some college athletes with horrible diets. Again don't be deceived; these individuals and their teams do not compete for championships. Eating right is followed by training right. Training to engrain is simply training the brain. By performing the correct sport-specific moves, positions, and exercises day in and day out, your brain will automatically react & execute in game situations. Too many athletes waste their training time doing the wrong exercises the wrong way.Lastly, you must give your all (but not your life). In order to truly "make it" in life, you must put NCAA Division 1 in its proper place. Remember that you are in control and that it is not appropriate for sport to control you. Keep in mind, productive relationships, education, and having a positive impact on your community are top priorities. Do not let being an athlete define you, rather focus on being yourself, learn from your mistakes, and execute as best you can. Timing and teams-needs will play a major role in where you end up, so control what's in your court and don't stress over the rest..
